Bergenfield Community Center Building Fund

The 12th Annual 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run sponsored by the Bergenfield Community Center Building Fund Committee in November, had a special air of anticipation and excitement about it.  Some 355 residents, many of whom had never previously participated in the event, stepped up to fulfill the $3,000 challenge grant pledged by Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.  The grant’s stipulation was that 300 Bergenfield residents must register to participate in the 5K Run/Walk or the Fun Run in order to receive the funds.  Englewood Hospital has been a long-time supporter of the BCCBF’s Annual 5K.

In a ceremony at the hospital, Michael Pietrowicz, EHMC’s senior vice-president of programs and planning development, and Phyllis Brown, the hospital’s manager of community outreach and childbirth education presented the $3,000 check to John Scagliotti, BCCBF president and Cathie Studwell, capital campaign chairwoman.  

“Englewood Hospital has a 120-year tradition of being a first class medical center,” Pietrowicz said, “and its focus has and will always be on providing exceptional service to the residents of our communities.”  

Brown told about the efforts of her staff members and volunteers who work on the outreach programs that continue to impact the community in exceptional ways.  “Englewood Hospital is committed to taking a multicultural approach and finding innovative ways to encourage communities to be happier and healthier,” she said.
